Topics of CIDEEV2022 :

Theme 1: Depollution and Desalination of water

The depollution of wastewater has become an imperative with human activities which are inevitably accompanied by an increasing production of polluting discharges. Wastewater treatment helps preserve health and is a good ally in protecting the environment. Since the previous decades, Morocco has experienced an influx of population to the cities. Today, 60.3% of Moroccans (RGPH 2014) live in cities. Thus, most industrial and domestic pollution is concentrated in urban sewers. Many factors alter the nature of surface water and groundwater, mainly (organic matter, suspended matter, heavy metals, pesticides, etc.), which make it difficult to treat them. Similarly, the conference will show that the capacities of the Kingdom of Morocco to develop the most significant projects in terms of seawater desalination, which have been concretized by the launch of the largest seawater desalination plant in Africa and the World. This is to meet the growing demand for this fundamental and vital substance and its scarcity in certain regions of the country and which will make it possible to secure drinking water and irrigation needs.

Theme 2: Corrosion prevention and treatment of materials

The interest is focused on the corrosion phenomena that impact industrial activities by involving safety, but also the longevity of materials and installations. Possible prevention by corrosion inhibitors, cathodic protection, anti-corrosion coatings, thermomechanical treatments, etc. are the subject of research studies and continuous improvement. Follow-ups for characterization of the corrosive environment and materials or metallic elements are seeing considerable progress. The CIDEEV will also be the place to take stock of the innovative materials developed by the various research teams to respond to specific applications. Material treatment processes will be studied, such as : cataphoresis, pre-lacquering of steel sheets, non-metallic coatings, pre-lacquering of aluminum sheets, galvanizing, powder coating, liquid paint systems, electrochemical polymerization, inorganic films and protective hybrids obtained by the sol-gel process, thermomechanical anti-corrosion surface treatments, deep phosphating, anodizing of aluminum and its alloys, etc. Various materials, glasses, ceramics, plastics, composites, nanomaterials, porous materials and eco-materials are also studied.

Theme 3: Generation of green energy and its applications

Green energy, which is more respectful of the environment, provides a sustainable solution to deal with the shortage of fossil fuels and also stem global warming. Wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, biomass, geothermal energy, etc., these new technologies are now an integral part of the landscape and contribute to producing clean electricity. After South Africa and Egypt, Morocco occupies 3rd place with 787 megawatts (MWatt). This is the cumulative installed capacity of wind energy recorded in Morocco between 2014 and 2015. The photovoltaic panels capture the sun's rays and then transform them into electricity which is 100% ecological. The CIDEEV will echo the results of research on these new niches. This theme is also focused on "Functional Materials for Renewable Energy Technologies" to bring together people working in the field of green energy technologies, including:

- batteries and supercapacitors

- Solid state sodium-ion batteries and microbial fuel cells (MFC)

- organic and inorganic photovoltaics

- solar fuels and fuel cells

- water splitting and photocatalysis

- thermal and mechanical energy recovery

- thermal insulation by biocomposite materials

- materials for wind turbines.

Theme 4: Construction and civil engineering materials

Construction materials are considered to be all materials used for the construction of reinforced concrete structures or metal constructions and in the field of public works (roads, bridges, aerodromes, etc.). According to the composition and structure, the materials are classified into Metals and alloys - Polymers - Ceramics. They can also be called raw materials (Clays, stones, wood, limestone, metals) or products (cement: limestone + clay, alloys, concrete, etc.). According to the field of use and according to their main properties (Resistance, compactness, ...), the materials are called upon to resist against stresses (dead weight, overload, earthquake ......): Stones, Terracotta, Wood, Concrete, Metals, etc. The range of physical properties that measure the behavior of materials under the action of temperature, humidity (density; density, porosity, absorption, permeability, shrinkage (swelling) etc, ) is very important. The behavior of materials deformed by the forces and the thermal properties are generally very studied.
